Inspired by Chairsh.com

Hi everyone!  Long time no post, I know.

But I have a fun way to kick off some fresh blog posts!

Holly from Chairish.com asked me to join in on an exclusive style challenge and of course I said yes.  My task was to choose one of the accent chairs in the file she sent me and build a style board around it. There were only a few to choose from and this tufted one.

After choosing the chair, I was suppose to take the room "from white to bright".

Here's the thing about that...

I don't do bright colors.  I'm a neutral girl through and through.

But then I took a second look at this chair found here...

I stared at it.

Its yellow, of course you can see that.

I'm calling it gold because its better than calling it mustard!  Either way, it inspired me.

My sister mentioned the other day that she hates velvet.  I know that there are a lot of velvet haters out there.  I think velvet is gorgeous when used in the right way.  But then again, I've come to have a very open mind when it comes to design.  Velvet is trending like it or not.  And well, I like it.

The great thing about velvet is the way it plays with light.  It almost looks metallic so I treat it like a metal finish when thinking about it as a component in a design.  In this case, I'm treating it like gold or brass.

I love the look of brass and gold against a monochrome palette. It really pops!

And hello gorgeous! I had to use this chandelier found here...

I love how it mimics the tufting of the gold chair with its black beaded swags!

Okay so now I want to show you what happens when I take the pop of color out of the style board and replace it with a neutral chair...

find the Custom Upholstered Arm Chair here

find the Giselle Office Swivel Chair in Warm Grey here

find the Henredon Registry Armless Chair here

find the Louis XIII Style Barrel Chairs here

Find the Vintage Au Naturel Chair here

I like them all to tell you the truth.  But switching out the gold chair with a neutral one definitely took the punch out.  Don't you think?

You should go check out the other accent chairs here at Chairish.

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

I would love it if you would take a few minutes and let me know that you think about these style boards in the comment section below! xo
