Our New Home: Laundry Room

Yay its Monday! And I'm completely dragging.

First, I want to apologize for leaving all of my wonderful loyal readers without a Monday update last week.  Unfortunately, it had to be put on the back burner.

My family and priorities as a momma come before my blog.

I knew you'd understand!

I want to thank you all so much for stopping by and reading my little blog so loyally.  I am truly flattered that so many find it that interesting or useful.  Also, thank you so much for all the wonderful comments, I appreciate them all!

I still haven't picked up my paint roller again.  I'm dreading it, but, ~sigh~ there is still a lot more to be done.  You'll notice there is still tape here and there, it's been a bear to remove.

I've had to slow down a little but I'm pecking away at the boxes little by little.

And then we discovered that our 15 year old Sub Zero Refrigerator needed fixing.  UGH! A momma needs her fridge, am I right!?

I called Professional Appliance Technicians, Inc. in Redmond, Washington and they were SO HELPFUL!

Scott knew exactly what was wrong and found a technician willing to drive an hour and a half to fix our fridge... on his OWN time.. AND on a weekend... while expecting a BABY. The technician, Ian, arrived nice and early, was very professional and did a flawless job.  He even noticed some other things needed fixing and took care of it, free of charge.  Thanks again you guys!!  Best appliance repair experience EVER!!!

And so... On to the laundry room which is actually a utility room, but I'll call it a laundry room anyway.

I think I have the laundry room organized for now.  Sorry there is no "before", but all I added was baskets and my Homegoods rugs.

I plan on making a canvas chalkboard for that wall space next to the door there.

The white cabinet door opens flush against the wall so whatever I put on the wall needs to be flat.

And of course, something for this wall.

The chalkboard baskets are from Target.

I love me some legendary Savon de Marseille.  The cubed soap looks so organic and the typography impressions are so pretty.

I used my favorite bistro chalk marker on this. It seems to wipe of easy without leaving any of the staining that some chalkboards get the with chalk markers.

The lacquered cabinets are so shiny they reflect!  I love how clean they look!

Again with the square soap, it's so pretty! But not too frou frou pretty, ya know?

...a lost socks basket.  LOVE IT.

After running around the laundry room snapping pics, I snapped a few out in the main living area.

We used the farmhouse table we bought from an Uber Chic Home flea market for the tv.

I still need to organize the cords.

You know me and demijohn bottles.  The more the prettier!

Did you notice the super awesome galvanized riser!? I used it to tuck away the satellite receiver and the Xbox.

...and then my husband walked by and corrected me, "Xbox ONE".

Whatever that means.

I'm retty sure we have more than one Xbox around here, in the garage...

Xbox ONE, TWO, THREE...

Just kidding, I know what it means, but I like to give him a hard time.  Then he starts in on my purses...

We joke around a lot.

I bought this old factory riser at Ravenna Gardens in Seattle a while back.  Look at those slats!  And the ball feet!  I had admired this thing for a couple years before buying it.  The price tag was hidden, its very heavy and it was under a big table.  Sometimes you have to dig for the coolest stuff.

You'll spy some places where I haven't finished painting over the green paint.  Someday I'll get it all done.

I bought this 3 tier tray at a cute little store in Fort Bragg, California during our Summer road trip.

I found the box with the milky mercury glass candle holders and decided to put them in the tray.

UPDATE:  I don't know why I didn't do this when I created the post but you can find this same 3 tier tray here! Honestly, I paid half that from the boutique.  BUT, I'd buy it again at Save on Craft's price in a heartbeat. The center posts are threaded so it comes apart for easy storing!

That's it for now, let me know what you think!

I love and appreciate when you take time out of your day to comment, it means so much!

Thanks for visiting!

I should note that I was NOT compensated in any way from Proffessional Appliance Technicians, Inc. for the review in this blog post.  They are that AWESOME!

    1. Thank you! pretty much every demijohn I find is dirty. I use a series of methods to get them clean. I don't worry about cleaning it perfect though. If you look closely, you'll see that most of them have some etching too. I fill them with hot water and oxiclean, let it soak for a few minutes, drop a rough thin washcloth of some sort (making sure it will be thin enough to get back out ), and swish the water around so that the wash cloth does most of the cleaning. Then I go back and use a long bendable bottle brush and try to get the stubborn spots. Hope that helps!

    1. Thanks so much Christine!! I'm ridiculously fascinated by demijohns, they're so beautiful... and yes, I wrote out the sign quite a while ago. The kids like to run their fingers through the chalk so it really needs to be re written! They're all places that my husband and I have been on our Europe adventures!

  5. Oh my goodness...WOW! Where do I start?? Am I seeing an Uber Chic pickle jars inside of a Target basket? If yes, I will run there now and buy one to put mine in! Your demijohn collection is absolutely breathtaking. I cannot get over how gorgeous they are with those yellow sprigs and dark gray walls. I think you should post MORE!!!!! I'm in love!

    1. Haha! Thanks girly!! Yes, you ARE seeing an Uber Chic Pickle Jar inside of a Target basket!! There was a rough spot on the bottom of that one that I didn't notice before. I didn't want to scratch up the counter top as I scooted it closer for scooping out detergent. It fit right in so I ran to the living room and dumped the kids toys out of the other one I had. Tada! Sock basket! HA! I love moments like that! Except now I need a living room toy basket...
